SpringWell Review
SpringWell is an independent, direct-to-consumer brand known for high-capacity whole-house systems and transparent testing data.
SpringWell: The Whole-House Specialist for Well Water Problems
SpringWell doesn't make pitcher filters or countertop units. They build whole-house systems — specifically, systems for the water quality problems that most filter brands won't touch: iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, and comprehensive well water treatment. If you've ever had rust-orange staining in your toilet, metallic-tasting water, or rotten-egg odors from your well, SpringWell's iron oxidation systems are the correct solution category.
The tradeoff for that specialization is complexity. SpringWell systems require professional installation, ongoing maintenance, and an initial investment of $800–$1,500 before installation costs. They're not the right choice for apartment renters or households with straightforward city water concerns. But for well water homeowners with iron problems, SpringWell's CF+ Iron system is the most effective product we've tested in this category.
SpringWell Brand Score: 8.1/10
Best tested iron removal in residential whole-house category (98.1% at 4.8 mg/L)
Lifetime tank warranty + 10-year valve warranty — strongest in category
CF+ Iron system handles iron, manganese, and H₂S in a single unit
NSF 42/61 on components; no system-level NSF 53/58 — standard for whole-house carbon systems
Professional installation required — increases total cost by $300–$700
CF1 carbon works for city water but Aquasana Rhino competes at similar price with better support
Self-backwashing system; annual valve inspection recommended; no ongoing chemical cost
US-based support team; technical documentation for installers is thorough

CF+ Iron & Manganese Filter
Best for iron wellsThe CF+ Iron is the system to buy if your well test shows iron above 1 mg/L. Air injection oxidizes dissolved ferrous iron to ferric particles, which are then backwashed out. No salt, no chemicals. Self-backwashing on a programmable schedule. In our Georgia test: iron dropped from 4.8 mg/L to 0.09 mg/L (98.1%), manganese from 0.6 to 0.02 mg/L (96.7%), H₂S from 2 mg/L to undetectable. Flow rate maintained at 12 GPM through 3 months of operation.
CF1 Whole House Carbon Filter
Good for city waterThe CF1 uses catalytic carbon plus KDF-55 media — the same combination as SpringWell's iron system, without the air injection stage. For city water with chlorine/chloramine, heavy metals, and general chemical contamination, it performs well. The 1,000,000-gallon media life (approximately 10 years at typical use) is exceptional. One limitation: 9 GPM flow rate is lower than some competitors at this price point, which may cause pressure drops in high-demand moments (multiple showers simultaneously).
